Count down to Christmas with Cedar
Watford indie four piece Cedar will be releasing a series of videos in the run up to Christmas promoting a free download track to support their current acoustic tour, which includes a date supporting ex – Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley.
From Saturday 8th November, every Saturday for the next four weeks at 11am a new video will appear simultaneously at the Cedar blog (www.cedarband.blogspot.com) and Myspace (www.myspace.com/cedarband). To claim the free track at the end of the four weeks, fans can leave a comment on the Myspace page and Cedar blog, or embed the videos on their own website. The track will then be e-mailed to fans for free.
“It's a great initiative that shows the different ways that the band are connecting with their audience,” said Elliot Pearson of Smooth One Records, who will be distributing the track. “We've been looking at ways to keep the band current and proactively generate industry interest, and this will hopefully go some way to achieving that.”
Cedar guitarist Ross Churchill said, “It’s an interesting idea and a great way to keep things fresh. We’re always looking to do something different and this gives us the chance to experiment with exciting ways of reaching new fans, as well as recording something different. We're playing the Barfly next year and we want to build on the momentum following our recent headline gig at The Fly. It seems like a sensible thing to do in the middle of this acoustic tour, plus it’s a nice Christmas present for the fans!”
The song that will be made available is yet to be decided, but fans can keep up to date with the latest news at www.cedarband.com or Cedar's blog. For fans who wish just to purchase the track outright, it will be available for 79p from www.smoothonerecords.com a week after it has been distributed to fans who have already commented on the videos.
Cedar will be playing the following dates:
November 18th – The Queen Boadecia, London
November 23rd – The Good Ship, London
November 30th – Amber Rooms, Watford
December 3rd – Power's Bar, London
December 7th – The Pheonix, London
December 12th – Liberties, London (supporting Tom Hingley)
Further shows at The Flag and the Horns in Watford are yet to be confirmed.

Silence Can Be Shared?
Scientists have revealed a way of making objects 'impervious' to sound.
The crystals work by diverting sound waves:
Does this mean the end of parties keeping you up all night?
It also leaves an interesting question - how can musicians use this? Venues will use this technology to sound proof and improve the quality of sound in their buildings, but how can bands utilise this?
The obvious use would be in the studio itself, but would this translate on to CD? A question for the audio geniuses out there...

Cedar on the comeback trail
Ross and I will be playing a special acoustic gig at The Amber Rooms on May 25th.
It'll only be the third time we've played together as a duo, so it's bound to be an amazing night.
